A few weeks ago, I was very proud and excited to have been able to work through the Lightning Components module on Trailhead. Even though I was able to get everything to work, I really didn’t feel like I had fully grasped the concepts. So, I decided to learn all things lightning at this years Dreamforce conference. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get into as many lightning sessions as I would have liked. Some sessions were cancelled, while others were moved or conflicted with other items on my agenda. Toward the end of the conference, I started feeling defeated like I hadn’t accomplished what I had set out to.
On Thursday, I had one more lightning session left but had heard rumors that the session only walked you through a Trailhead project. I remember thinking, well I already did the lightning project and wasn’t sure there’d be much value in attending. I decided to stop in and ask the session speaker if it was indeed the Trailhead project and he said it was but it was a new one, Build an Account Geolocation App, and would be more in depth. So, I decided to stick around. Best decision ever!
The session was a Hand-On Workshop: Build Web and Mobile Apps with Lightning Components and was led by Paul Battisson. He really had a way of breaking things down so that almost anyone at any level could understand what was happening. I learned more in that 2.5 hour session then I had after months of working through the modules, projects and guides on my own. Imagine how excited I was to find out that he also has online tips, tricks and tutorials on Twitter @forcedotcomcast! These weekly tutorials are short 5-10 minute tutorials that walk you through building a lightning app. My favorite part about these videos is that he makes no assumptions and explains everything.
